Carefully Sourced, Beautifully Crafted
Every material I use, from the small-batch printed vinyls to the thread I sew with, is carefully sourced to create high-quality, durable products that maintain their beauty through everyday use.
Each item is sewn in Minnesota, mostly at my studio, but I also love to share my process by sewing products at my in-person markets.
Materials
Putting together just the right combination of materials for each product is a key part of my process, and one that brings me so much joy. Testing combinations to find the just the right zipper or webbing that will make the whole combination sing is one of my favorite parts of the job.
Finding the right materials takes a whole lot of effort; I spend hours scouring the internet and checking in regularly with my favorite small business sources to find beautiful, high quality materials that meet my Bur Oak Stitchery standards.
I hope you get just as much joy out of using the products as I get creating them for you.
Sewn in MN
Every Bur Oak Stitchery product is proudly sewn in Minnesota. Most products are sewn by me on my sem-industrial machine. I also get a little help from my sewing apprentice.
With almost 20 twenty years of sewing, quilting, and design experience, and a lifelong focus on the details, every stitch is put in with care, so that your Bur Oak Stitchery products have a beautiful finish that holds up to everyday use.

Hi there, I'm Cheryl, and I'm so glad you're here.
I love the feel of using well-crafted and beautiful items in my everyday life, and it's my mission to give my customers this same joy.
Being a long-time maker, I know how small details can make a real difference when interacting with the things we use every day; the way a zipper opens, or how easily a bag swings onto your shoulder because the straps are just the right length.
Every product I make is carefully designed to balance beauty and function, so you can enjoy using it, without having to think about how it works.

Who sews your products and where are they made?
Everything is sewn by me and my apprentice in Minnesota, either in my home studio or in my booth at markets.
What material is the makeup bag?
I use a variety of vinyls and jelly vinyls, including small-batch prints featuring independent artwork.
Where can I buy your products?
Right here on my website, or at my in-person events. Occasionally you can find my prodcuts at retail pop-ups.
How do I clean my makeup bag?
Wipe with a damp cloth or a little makeup remover for makeup stains.
